A Florida woman walked into a pet shop, asked to see small dogs, and ran out with an eight-week-old Teacup Yorkie, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened at Star Pups on Okeechobee Boulevard.
Deputies arrested Melissa Strong and charged her with grand theft.
Deputies said at about 4 p.m., an employee brought a few dogs out for the woman to see, and let her hold the black and tan, female Yorkie.
They said the woman asked about taking the Yorkie home to convince her husband to let her keep the puppy, but the employee said she couldn’t leave the store without paying for the Yorkie.
Then, when the employee was closing the store for the evening, the woman was seen running out with the Yorkie in her left arm.
The sheriff’s office said she got into a 2011 black Mercedes Benz four-door with California license plate and escaped.
Deputies were able to find and arrest the woman who has been identified as Melissa Strong.
She was charged with grand theft.
The puppy was also recovered, according to StarPups.
