Florida Woman Arrested After Deputies Say She Killed Her Roommate’s Bird

A Florida woman was arrested after deputies say she killed her roommate’s bird.

Deputies were called to Luminary Circle around 10 a.m. for a report of animal cruelty.

Officials made contact with a woman who explained that her roommate, Lindsey Theissen, had been making threats to hurt her and her pets since 1:30 a.m.

The woman said she left the house around 9:30 a.m. to go to the gas station and received a text from Theissen saying that her bird “Sunflower” was gone and must have flown away.

According to an arrest report, the rushed home, believing her bird was in danger. When she arrived, she said she saw Sunflower in Theissen’s hands, still alive.

The woman said she watched as Theissen snapped the bird’s neck and threw it into its cage.

Deputies made contact with Theissen, who was asleep inside. Deputies said she was visibly intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol.

Theissen was arrested for felony animal cruelty and taken to the Brevard County Jail.
