Florida Woman Behind Bars After She Confesses She Gave Police Her Sister’s Name During Recent Arrest

A Florida woman landed behind bars after she confessed she gave police her sister’s name during a recent arrest.

Temperance Diane Porter, 28, contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to admit she had given a deputy her sister’s name during a July 21 arrest on a charge of driving while license suspended.

During a traffic stop near the intersection of Thomas Road and Montclair Road, the deputy issued multiple tickets to Porter, who had a minor child not properly secured in the backseat of the car. The deputy wrote tickets for failure to properly secure the child, operating a car in the darkness without lights and driving while license suspended.

Nearly a week and a half later, an obviously remorseful Porter asked to meet with the deputy to get the matter straightened out, according to the arrest report. Before meeting with Porter, the deputy reviewed Department of Motor Vehicle images of Porter and her sister, and he found the women looked alike. He voided the ticket in the sister’s name.

Porter was arrested on charges of forgery, providing a false name to a law enforcement officer and driving while license suspended. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $8,000 bond.
