A Florida woman was arrested after using a stolen department store credit card and simultaneously using her own personal rewards accounts for a cashback offer.
On March 15, deputies responded to a call from Bealls Outlet in Avon Park about a customer whose Bealls Outlet credit card had been used fraudulently seven times.
Five of them at the Avon Park store, and once each in Sebring and Lake Placid – for a total of over $1,400 worth of merchandise.
“This kind of thing happens a lot and we have a pretty respectable record when it comes to making arrests. Most of them, however, are not this easy,” said Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say a quick look at the in-store video and Jessica Louise Lovellette, 43, of Sebring, was identified as the person making the fraudulent purchases and then putting the points on her own account.
A warrant was obtained and Jessica was arrested. She was booked on charges of grand theft, fraudulent use of credit cards and use or possession of another’s personal identification without consent.
