52-Year-Old Florida Woman Arrested After Stealing Former Roommate’s Television And Selling It To A Pawn Shop

A 52-year-old Florida woman was arrested after stealing a former roommate’s television and selling it to a pawn shop.

On October 9, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to Value Pawn and Jewelry located at 315 S Pine Avenue in Ocala in response to a reported theft.

The deputy spoke with the male victim who stated that Lori Scavongelli had removed a 50-inch television from his Ocala residence and pawned it.

The victim stated that Scavongelli was previously staying at his residence but had since moved out.

When the victim returned to the residence after being away on a trip, he discovered that the television was missing.

According to the victim, a smaller television was in its place, and a pawn receipt from Value Pawn and Jewelry, dated October 1, was next to it.

The victim reached out to Scavongelli in attempts to get his television back, but she allegedly told him that she had moved out and it was not her problem anymore.

MCSO deputies were unsure of Scavongelli’s new residence and were unable to locate her at her place of work. A deputy managed to speak briefly with Scavongelli on October 8, and she stated that the victim gave her permission to pawn the television.

According to the MCSO report, a review of the pawn shop’s security footage showed that Scavongelli sold the television, and the original receipt showed that she had claimed the television belonged to her.

A warrant was issued for Scavongelli’s arrest.

Scavongelli was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she faces felony charges for fraud and dealing stolen property.

She is currently being held on $8,000 bond, according to jail records.
