A Florida woman with two prior arrests for battering an elderly woman was arrested again on the same charge after she reportedly struck a woman on the head when she refused to give her money.
Dawn Marie Schroeder, 50, was charged recently with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. She had just been released from jail April 6 after being charged Feb. 8 with battering a 67-year-old woman over “weed” money. She was also charged with battery on a person 65 or older in August 2018 after deputies found a dazed senior citizen bleeding after a 911 hang-up call.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she and Schroeder got into an argument because Schroeder wanted $250 and the victim told her no. The victim said Schroeder took her debit card and hit her on top of her head several times with her fist, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The deputy observed blood on the left side of the victim’s shirt and head. The deputy also felt three knots on the victim’s head and one of them had a laceration that was still bleeding, the report said.
Schroeder told the deputy she didn’t take the debit card and pointed to the cards on the table. She said the victim is a drunk and was lying. Schroeder said she found four beers that belonged to the victim and poured them down the sink. She said that made the victim angry and that is when she called 911. Schroeder said she did not hit or otherwise touch the victim, according to the report.
Schroeder was taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released on $2,000 bond.
