A Florida woman was arrested for an animal abuse charge after investigators said she locked a dog in a bathroom for days.
Jonteria Haugabook, 27, was booked into the Lee County Jail.
The dog in her care, Queen, sustained chemical burns on her paws from her own urine and feces. The dog was in “near-death condition,” according to Haugabook’s arrest report.
The one-year-old dog is expected to recover. Queen was admitted to Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
A hamster was also found in a cage with no food or water. It also was taken to animal services.
