Florida Woman Arrested Accused Of Throwing Rocks Towards Her Cancer Patient Mother During Drunken Rage

A Florida woman is accused of throwing rocks towards her cancer patient mother during a drunken rage and failing to comply with the deputies who arrested her.

April Michele Weeks, 35, who is listed as homeless, was charged with simple domestic assault intentional threat to do violence, shooting or throwing a missile into a dwelling, and resisting an officer without violence after the incident, which happened at her mother’s mobile home on County Road 33.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy first responded to the residence shortly after 7 p.m. The victim said she had chemotherapy treatments earlier in the day and asked Weeks to come and help her take care of her dog. She said at around 3 p.m., Weeks was shopping with her when she got into an argument with her sister and started drinking alcohol heavily, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said when they got home, Weeks came into the living room and started yelling at her, saying she was a horrible mother. She said her husband arrived home, but Weeks continued to behave belligerently so they called the sheriff’s office, the report said.

The deputy spoke with Weeks, who was in a shed. When she came out, she was crying and hollering loudly about several topics. Weeks appeared heavily intoxicated and said she wanted to leave. Due to Weeks’ intoxication level, her mother called a cab to take her home, according to the report.

At this time, the situation had calmed down and Weeks agreed to remain in the shed until the cab arrived. Deputies left the scene and told the victim to contact law enforcement if anything else happened, the report said.

At around 8:30, the victim called the sheriff’s office again, saying Weeks was behaving erratically again and had started throwing rocks at her while she was standing in the doorway. She said the rocks didn’t hit her, but they did hit the residence about a foot away from her. The victim said she then closed the door, locked it, and awaited the deputies’ arrival. While walking to the front door, the deputy found several rocks on the walkway and the front porch, according to the report.

Deputies found Weeks inside the shed. She could be heard crying loudly again. At first, she didn’t want to open the door, but she eventually did but refused to comply with verbal instructions to come out and speak with the deputies. Weeks was removed from the shed at taser point and placed into handcuffs, the report said.

Inside the shed, the deputy found a large bottle of Bacardi Rum that was partially consumed. Weeks was placed into the back of the patrol car and taken to the Lake County Jail, where she refused to comply with detention deputies. She was released on her own recognizance.
