Florida Woman Arrested For Allegedly Throwing Container Filled With Flammable Substance Inside Ex-Girlfriend’s Bedroom While Her 2 Year Old Son Was Inside Home

An ongoing dispute over a breakup between two Florida women has ended with one woman accused of setting the other’s home ablaze, police said.

Zhane Italia Johnson, 23, of Boynton Beach, allegedly smashed a window then threw a container filled with a flammable substance inside a bedroom at the home in the 200 block of Southeast 15th Terrace in Boca Raton.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. April 6 while the ex-girlfriend was home with her 2-year-old son, investigators said.

She told police that she heard Johnson yell, “take that, stupid [expletive],” and stepped outside to see Johnson driving off in a white Mitsubishi Galant. Surveillance video from a neighboring home showed the car speeding away, according to the police report.

When she went back inside the house, she smelled smoke. She grabbed her son and took him outside, then called her siblings. The woman’s sister called 911, the report stated.

The fire damage left the home uninhabitable.

A Boca Raton fire inspector determined the fire was intentionally set. The point of origin was the room in which the unknown flammable substance was thrown through the broken window, the inspector concluded.

Johnson was arrested and charged with first-degree arson. She remained in the Palm Beach County Jail, records showed
