A Florida woman was jailed recently after she got into a battle with her lady friend while they were moving a refrigerator from one residence to another on the same property.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that 54-year-old Charlotte Lynn Long thought she was taking too long to retrieve some of the refrigerator’s parts from the other residence and started yelling at her. She said her dog barked at Long and she threatened to hurt the animal, a sheriff’s office report states.
The victim said Long ran up to her, put her hands on the side of her face and pushed her in the shoulder/neck area. She said she told Long she was calling law enforcement for help and she ran toward the primary residence on the property, the report says, adding that deputies observed red marks on the victim’s neck and shoulder.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Long at the primary residence and eventually found her hiding under a pile of clothes and blankets after the victim let them inside the home. After being read her rights she offered a similar account of the altercation but said she didn’t touch the victim. She also claimed the victim “got in her face” and started yelling about the dog barking at her but she again denied touching her, according to the report.
Long was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with battery. She was released on $100 bond.
