Florida Woman, Who Was A Hialeah High School Reading Teacher, Arrested Accused of Sexually Abusing An Underage Student For 4 Years, Three More (Who Were Underaged) Victims Come Forward Also Accusing Her Of Sex Acts

A Florida woman, who was a Hialeah High School reading teacher, is facing serious charges after being accused of sexually abusing at least one underage student for years. Police said three victims have come forward to say she engaged in sex acts with them at her home and school.

Jeanette Barbara Valle-Tejeda, 41, was arrested on a series of charges including sexual battery, child abuse, and lewd assault on a child under the age of 16. NBC-Miami reported, that one victim told school officials and the police that Valle-Tejeda started molesting her in 2009 when she was a 14-year-old middle school student.

Arrest documents suggest that Valle-Tejeda “groomed” the student and gave her “financial assistance.” The student slept over at the teacher’s house often, the documents say. The sexual abuse lasted for years until the student turned 18, according to a CBS affiliate.

Reports suggest that Valle-Tejeda reportedly skipped school with the girl and signed her out of classes without her mother’s permission. The two would then go to the beach or restaurants and took showers together. The report says that Valle-Tejeda acted as a “mother figure.” Two more victims have allegedly come forward, including one who said she was 11 when the teacher started a “romantic relationship” with her.

One former student revealed that the teacher would allegedly engage in sexual acts on school grounds. She mentioned that Valle-Tejeda also urged her to engage in phone sex, but “constantly” told the victim to erase accusatory sexts. Another victim came forward and said that Valle-Tejeda took her to clubs and bars when she was 17.

Valle-Tejeda is now arrested and is in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
