A Florida woman and man were arrested during a traffic stop in DeSoto County, and one of them was found hiding in a treehouse with drugs.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said Angie Birkholz hid from deputies in a treehouse before they eventually caught her. Sergio Ramirez, the other person arrested, hid underneath a trailer.
Deputies swarmed SE Highway 31, and narcotics investigators conducted a traffic stop on Birkholz’s car. DeSoto County deputies said she was wanted at the time. Both her and Ramirez ran off in separate directions, according to DCSO. Both were found and taken into custody.
Investigators said they found Birkholz still clinging to her purse with methamphetamine, scales, baggies, and a meth pipe inside.
Birkholz was arrested for her outstanding warrants as well as fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, and probation violation.
DeSoto County deputies said Ramirez was arrested for resisting arrest and fleeing to elude.
