A Florida woman is accused of hitting her boyfriend’s sister with her vehicle because she was upset her boyfriend had his sister come pick him up.
Kiauna Ashmere Bastian, 27, of Douglas St., was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill after the incident, which happened around 1 a.m. in the area of Sunnyside Drive and Sleepy Howard Road.
The victim told a Lake County sheriff’s deputy that after she picked up her brother, an older black Chevy Impala started following her extremely close. The victim said she stopped her vehicle, got out and went back to the black vehicle and told the driver – later identified as Bastian – to stop following her, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said she got back I n her vehicle and continued with the black vehicle still following her very closely. She said she stopped again and got out of her vehicle. The victim said as she was walking to the rear of her vehicle, Bastian stepped on the gas and drove around the left side of the vehicle directly at the victim, the report said.
The victim said she was struck by the right-front fender of Bastian’s vehicle, which caused her to roll between the two vehicles. The impact threw the victim’s body I not her left-rear door and into the left-front fender. The right outside mirror of Bastian’s vehicle struck the victim in the left hip area, causing an injury. The victim also received scrapes to her upper left side and the vehicle fled the scene without stopping according to the report.
The victim’s brother identified Bastian as the driver of the black vehicle. He said he is dating Bastian and believes she was upset because he had the victim pick him up. The victim was also familiar with Bastian, the report said.
The black Chevy was found at Bastian’s residence with her hiding in the back seat. She had nothing to say to the deputy who arrested her, according to the report.
Bastian was taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released later on $5,000 bond.
