Florida Woman Arrested Accused Of Failing To Ring Up Items At Self-Checkout Lane And Exiting Without Paying At Wal-Mart

A Florida woman found herself behind bars recently after being accused of stealing items from a local Wal-Mart.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the store, located at 9570 S.W. Hwy. 200, and spoke with an asset protection employee. She said she had surveillance footage from October 2020 of 41-year-old Shamina Zeila Khan failing to ring up items at a self-checkout lane and exiting the store without paying for them, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy observed the footage and confirmed that Khan didn’t ring up several food items. She then grabbed multiple items at once but only scanned a few of them before placing them in her shopping cart and using other items to conceal them, the report says, adding that the value of the stolen items was $43.30.

Khan, who lives at S.W. 117th Ln. in Ocala, was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with nine counts of larceny/petit theft. She is being held on $9,000 bond, jail records show.
