A Florida woman from Silver Springs is facing armed robbery charges following an incident at a Dollar General.
At 8:15 a.m., deputies were informed that a woman had just robbed two employees at 16085 E Highway 40, deputies say. The victims reported that a woman walked in and pointed what appeared to be a gun wrapped in a bag at them both.
The woman, later identified as 29-year-old Samantha Carlson, made off with money from the cash register in a maroon-colored vehicle, deputies say. The store employees saw part of Carlson’s license plate number.
Around 20 minutes later, deputies found the vehicle at 16900 E Fort King St., deputies say. Carlson was detained, and both employees recognized her as the suspect.
Carlson admitted to the robbery, saying that she was addicted to crack cocaine and needed money to pay her bills, deputies say. Carlson said she wrapped her hand in a headrest cover to give the appearance that she was armed.
Carlson was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm and violation of probation for a previous drug-related arrest.
