Florida Woman, High On Heroine, Arrested After Police Reported Finding Items In Her Purse That Were Stolen From Dollar General

A Florida woman was arrested after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy reported finding items in her purse that were stolen from a local Dollar General store and cocaine in a small plastic bag.

A deputy responded to a call from the store, located near S.E. Hwy. 42, where the manager said he caught 41-year-old Jenelee E. Lancow putting items in her purse. When Lancow was confronted, the manager said she “became verbal” and refused to leave the store, according to a sheriff’s office report.

The deputy reported that Lancow appeared to be under the influence. He asked her to step outside and when asked to remove any items that did not belong to her, Lancow began acting confused and uttering unknown phrases, the report says.

Because of her erratic behavior, the deputy requested paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue to assess her well-being. During the evaluation, Lancow allegedly admitted that she had taken heroine and said she wanted to go to a hospital. The deputy searched Lancow’s purse and reported finding a hypodermic needle containing a clear liquid residue and a small bag containing a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine.

After being cleared from AdventHealth Ocala, Lancow, who was accused of stealing clothing items and miscellaneous makeup items valued at $77.75, was transported to the Marion County Jail. She is facing two counts of petit theft and one count of possession of cocaine. She was released on $4,000 bond.
