A Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly entered a home without permission, opened a bottle of wine and drank some, rummaged through things, took a shower, and was discovered by the homeowner lying naked on the living room couch.
Catherine Ann McKinney, 37, of 13200 SE 115th Ave., was charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied structure.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she returned to her residence on SE 128th Place Road around 6 p.m. Tuesday and found the front gate to her driveway open and her dogs outside. She said she walked inside and saw McKinney nude and lying on the living room sofa, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said McKinney jumped up and said, “I’m Catie McKinney. I’ve known your husband since we were 5.” She said McKinney quickly put on a pink shirt, black legging pants and white tennis shoes and ran out of the residence and into the woods, the report said.
The victim said McKinney drank some Dragon Claw wine out of an unopened bottle valued at $13.99. She said McKinney took a shower and used her hair care products and soap. The victim said no items were taken from the house, but McKinney moved a firearm from a cabinet in the dining room to the living room and rummaged through multiple items in the kitchen and bathroom, according to the report.
The victim said she knows McKinney from the past due to her husband knowing her. She said her husband has not been home due to working out of town, the report said.
While investigating the incident, the deputy was made aware of a call for service about a suspicious person around the 10800 block of SE 128th Place Road. The deputy responded to the area and found McKinney wearing the clothes described by the victim, according to the report.
While being taken to jail, McKinney asked why she was being arrested and said she was just at a “friend’” house. She refused to answer any questions, the report said.
McKinney is being held on $2,500 bond. No court information was available.
