A 23-year-old Florida woman admitted she hit a man during a domestic spat that turned physical.
Makenzie B. Wilkes, of SE 35th Avenue, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she was wrong and lost control of her anger. She said the victim was trying to leave the residence and she grabbed him several times by the jacket to get him to stop. Wilkes said she then swung with an open hand and hit him, but didn’t know where she made contact, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said he and Wilkes were in a verbal argument when she slapped him in the face. The deputy observed redness on the side of the victim’s face, the report said.
Jail records show Wilkes was charged with simple domestic battery on the same victim in June 2019. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released early on $1,000 bond.
