Florida Woman Charged With DUI After Driving Wrong Direction Down The Street

A Florida woman was charged with DUI after driving west on the east-bound side of East Silver Springs Boulevard.

Shortly after 2 a.m., a Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed a red Chevy Cobalt traveling the wrong direction near NE 36th Street until the driver observed oncoming traffic. The vehicle then turned northbound in a southbound-only lane until getting into the proper westbound lane, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Katherine Stacy Waterhouse, 43, of 6671 Hemlock Road. While gathering Waterhouse’s information and explaining the reason for the stop, the deputy smelled alcohol on Waterhouse’s breath. Her eyes were glossy and she seemed to be impaired, the report said.

Waterhouse agreed to undergo a series of field sobriety exercises but was unable to complete them due to her level of impairment. She provided a breath sample for analysis that came back with readings of .201 and .195, according to the report.

Waterhouse was arrested and charged with DUI with a breath-alcohol level of .15 or higher. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
