A 22-year-old Florida woman was charged with simple domestic battery after she allegedly pushed a man and grabbed him by the beard during a spat over money.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded around 6 p.m. Tuesday to a residence on SW 12th Street, where Aiza Topengha Alvarado said she and the victim were arguing about finances when he lunged at her and threw her to the ground by her neck during an argument over finances, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said he and Alvarado got into an argument over who had the rights to a vehicle. He said Alvarado became irate, pushed him and grabbed his beard. The victim said he took Alvarado to the ground after she touched him in order to restrain her, the report said.
A witness who was at the scene said he saw Alvarado leave her room and push the victim, causing him to take her to the ground and restrain her, according to the report.
The deputy spoke again with Alvarado, who said the victim was trying to force his way into her room while she was on the phone with her brother. Asked if he saw the victim try to force his way into Alvarado’s room, the witness said he did not, the report said.
Due to the totality of the circumstances, the deputy determined there was probable cause to arrest Alvarado. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance.
