A Florida woman is behind bars after being accused of ripping off a chain saw and leaving a local hardware store with it in a baby stroller.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the True Value Hardware store on S.W. Hwy. 200, where employees told him about the incident involving 35-year-old Kristen Michelle Petty. A short time later, the deputy located Petty and her vehicle, a report states.
After Petty admitted to taking the chainsaw, she was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where deputies found her to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, the report says.
She was then charged with petit theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing contraband into a detention facility and a parole violation for a previous petit theft charge. She was being held on no bond.
