A Florida woman faces five counts of child neglect after deputies determined her home was filthy and unlivable.
According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report, after deputies walked through the home, they determined the conditions were unlivable for children.
Barbara Ann Fariel, 40, was arrested before being released on $12,500 bond.
The report states the woman told deputies she has been living in the home for about a year and a half. She said she had small dogs in the home that she didn’t clean up after.
Walking through the home, deputies observed a “disgusting smell of mold, feces, urine and old garbage,” according to the report.
Deputies found piles of molded clothing, as well as an infestation of roaches, gnats and fleas throughout the entire home. They also found urine all over the floors and mounds of dog feces.
The report also states the kitchen was covered with old grease, dried up food, gnats, flies and dirty dishes.
The five children in her care have been taken out of her custody.
