A 69-year-old Florida woman was arrested on a domestic battery charge after she allegedly slammed a door on a family member’s shoulder multiple times during an argument about the victim’s dog pooping on the floor.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence on SW 158th Lane, where the victim said she was cleaning up the dog waste when Charlene Karen Dyche struck her on the shoulder. She said she was standing in the doorway of the home when Dyche struck her with the door more than three times, reaggravating a prior injury caused by a vehicle accident, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim’s stepfather told the deputy that Dyche had left the residence prior to the deputy’s arrival because she had a doctor’s appointment at 9 a.m. The witness left multiple messages for Dyche to return to the location but was unable to speak to her. He said he didn’t see the incident and could only hear them arguing, the report said.
The victim declined medial treatment. The deputy did not observe any redness or bruising on her, according to the report.
The deputy went to Ocala Medical Center, 2230 SW 119th Ave. Road, and spoke with a front desk employee, who said Dyche was in with the doctor and would not be long. The deputy left the office and a short time later, the employee told the deputy that Dyche saw him at the office and went out the back door, the report said.
The deputy saw Dyche leaving the area in her husband’s gold 2014 Buick and conducted a traffic stop in the Kane’s Furniture parking lot, where Dyche was arrested and charged with domestic battery, according to the report.
After being read her Miranda warning, Dyche said she did not hit the victim but did push her in the shoulder as she tried to get her out of the front door due to it being open and the victim screaming loud enough for the neighbors to hear. Dyche said the victim was standing in the doorway, so she did push on the door with her in front of it, pushing the door on her, the report said.
Dyche was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on $1,000 bond.
