A Florida woman who was a former teacher with the Marion County School District has been jailed for lewd and lascivious molestation of a former student of hers at Evergreen Elementary School.
Marion County sheriff’s Det. Frank Scala arrested 30-year-old Christina Ruby Sanchez-Rodriguez at her residence at 3907 N.E. 22nd St. in Ocala. She was booked into the Marion County Jail shortly after 10 p.m. and released on $25,000 bond. Her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
Detectives received information about two years ago that Sanchez had possibly molested one of her 6‐year‐old students at the school after her victim became upset when he found out that she would be teaching one of his family members. When asked, the victim told a family friend that Sanchez had touched his “private areas” on numerous occasions and he didn’t want the family member to go through a similar situation.
The victim claimed that Sanchez had told him not to tell anyone and stated that she liked him like a “boyfriend.” When the victim would tell Sanchez that he did not want her touching him, she would get upset and ignore him in class, a sheriff’s office report states.
During interviews with staff and family members, detectives learned that Sanchez would take the victim out of lunch and bring him back to her classroom. During class she would allow him to play on her phone under her desk and she would show him special attention, the report says.
The victim had come home with gifts that Sanchez bought him. She also would want to take him out to “fun places” such as a mall or to meet a famous athlete. Due to this behavior, the victim was removed from Sanchez’s class and when she found out, she quit her job.
Statements given during the investigation have caused concern that Sanchez may have more victims. Detectives are asking anyone with information about any other possible victims to contact Scala at (352) 368‐3548.
